The 2017 Salt River IAFF Local 2260 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters, police, and EMS who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live on 9-11-2001. Each participant pays tribute to an FDNY firefighter, police officer, or EMS by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of an FDNY brother, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that each of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 10 EMS are honored and that the world knows that we will never forget.
Opening ceremonies will include posting of colors, pipes and drums, the national anthem and guest speakers.
Each climber will be issued a tag with the name and picture of one of the fallen to carry throughout their climb, symbolically completing their journey to the top of the World Trade Center Towers.
Sponsor booths will be present and there will be a 50/50 raffle and raffle prizes donated from sponsors such as Rigid Industries and others.
The event is capped at 343 climbers, but family, children and friends are welcome to come support their climbers for free.
Your $30 climber registration fee includes a commemorative T-shirt and entrance into the event. Non-climbers are free.
The Stair Climb benefits the FDNY CSU and the programs provided by the NFFF to support the families of our nation’s fallen firefighters and the United east Valley Firefighters L2260 Relief Fund.
