The 2017 FDIC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live on 9-11-2001. Each participant pays tribute to a FDNY firefighter by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of a FDNY brother, but it symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that each of the 343 firefighters is honored and that the world knows that we will never forget.
As you know, every incident requires a myriad of support personnel to ensure a successful operation. On 9/11 there were many firefighters who fulfilled these roles whether it was the fire department chaplain who was there to provide spiritual support, or an individual assigned to provide communications capability. In recognition of those vital positions, we have created Climb Support for those who may not be able to physically complete the stair climb, but can provide support for a buddy who is climbing or in recognition of those fallen brothers who provided that level of support on 9/11. Click here to join Climb Support.
The Stair Climb benefits the FDNY CSU, helps cover the costs for FDNY familes to attend Memorial Weekend, and the programs provided by the NFFF to support the families of our nation's fallen firefighters.
