Massapequa Fire Dept. (in Memory of James Kennelly)
For this 3rd Annual National Stair Climb, The Massapequa Fire Department climbs in honor of our friend and brother, Jimmy Kennelly, who passed away in June 2017 from 9/11 related illness. Jimmy, who also became a Port Authority police officer, had made repeated trips down to Ground Zero with our fire department, in the days and weeks after September 11th.
We climb the 2,200 steps, together with the other participants, to honor and remember Jimmy Kennelly, his family, and all firefighters who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The funds we're raising will help the FDNY Counseling Services Unit and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor America's fallen heroes and assist the surviving families and co-workers in rebuilding their lives after losing their loved one.
