Welcome to My Personal Page
From 1994-1996, while a student at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH; I served as a Volunteer Firefighter & EMT in the Miami Township Fire-Rescue Department (MTFR).
Next weekend, for the first time in almost 22 years, I'll be heading back to my alma mater to participate in the MTFR's 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
On the morning of Saturday, September 8th, I will climb the equivalent of 110 stories, wearing a self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
I will be climbing to commemorate the sacrifice of the 343 FDNY Firefighters who lost their lives in the line of their duties on September 11th, 2001; and to help raise funds to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF).
The mission of the NFFF is to honor and remember America's fallen fire heroes, to provide resources to assist their families in rebuilding their lives, and work within the fire service community to reduce firefighter deaths and injuries.
I will be climbing in memory of US Coast Guard Reservist Machinery Technician 1st Class (MK1) Jeff Palazzo.
MK1 Palazzo, a New York City native, enlisted as an active duty Coast Guardsman in 1988. He transferred to the Coast Guard Reserves in 1996, where he served at both Small Boat Stations Chatham and a New York.
Jeff Palazzo served as an FDNY Firefighter for the last seven years of his life. He was first assigned to Ladder Co. 109 in Brooklyn. He spent the last 18 months of his career and his life as a member of Staten Island's elite Rescue 5 "Blue Thunder" Squad in Concord.
He was one of the eleven members of Rescue 5 who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
Jeff was 33 years old when he died. He was survived by his wife, Lisa; and his daughters Nicole (age 4 y/o) & Samantha (age 11 months).
He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, New Dorp.
Thank you for considering making a donation to help support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation
