Mark Leddy's 9/11 Climb for the FDNY 343
On September 11, 2001, 343 New York firefighters were killed during the terrorist attacks that day, perishing in the collapse of the towers of the World Trade Center as they attempted to save as many lives as possible. Since that fateful Tuesday, 1,663 firefighters all across this great nation have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation has the mission of helping the families of those lost firefighters, as well as continuing to advance the safety for all firefighters on the job.
On Sunday, October 1, I will be climbing 110 stories (2,200 steps) in honor of those 343 FDNY firefighters, and I am trying to raise money for the NFFF in an effort to assist that mission to support the families of all of the fallen firefighters.
I am asking everyone that I know to please help me reach my goal of $2,977 to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation ~ $1 for each innocent soul taken from us on 9/11. There is no donation too big or too small, and every donation is met with my gratitude and my admiration. I hope you can help me honor the FDNY 343 ... the 1,663 firefighters lost since that day ... and the 2,977 souls lost on 9/11. Thank you!
Thus far, I have climbed in honor of:
~ FF Michael J. Lyons, FDNY Squad 41 (July 18, 2015 – Baltimore, Md.)
~ Capt. Louis J. Modafferi, FDNY Rescue 5 (October 10, 2015 – CitiField – New York, N.Y.)

~ October 1 ... 3rd Annual National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters at Belmont Park / Elmont, N.Y.
~ October 28 ... Pelican Products 2017 Memorial Stair Climb / Baltimore, Md.
The 3rd Annual National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters is not a timed race event, but a way for firefighters and the community to climb together to honor and remember all firefighters who died in the line of duty.
Each climber pays tribute to a firefighter by climbing 2200 steps, the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of a firefighter, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that all firefighters are honored.
The funds I'm raising will help the FDNY Counseling Services Unit and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor America's fallen heroes and assist the surviving families and co-workers in rebuilding their lives after losing their loved one.
