Mark Leddy's 9/11 Climb for the FDNY 343
I am returning to New York City for the third consecutive year to participate in the National Stair Climb, a 110-story stair climb to honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who perished on 9/11 when they charged into the World Trade Center in an effort to safe those inside.
The climb in New York will be my 10th 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb – and the sixth of 2017. I began climbing in tribute of the FDNY 343 in Baltimore in July 2015, and have now participated in nine stair climbs. The National Stair Climb on October 1 will be the 10th time I take to the stairs to honor the fallen heroes and to help raise money for the families of other fallen heroes.
I am asking everyone that I know to please help me reach my goal of $2,977 to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation ~ $1 for each innocent soul taken from us on 9/11. There is no donation too big or too small, and every donation is met with my gratitude and my admiration.
Thus far, I have climbed in honor of:
~ FF Michael J. Lyons, FDNY Squad 41 (July 18, 2015 – Baltimore, Md.)
~ Capt. Louis J. Modafferi, FDNY Rescue 5 (October 10, 2015 – CitiField – New York, N.Y.)

~ October 1 ... 3rd Annual National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters at Belmont Park / Elmont, N.Y.
~ October 28 ... Pelican Products 2017 Memorial Stair Climb / Baltimore, Md.
The 3rd Annual National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters is not a timed race event, but a way for firefighters and the community to climb together to honor and remember all firefighters who died in the line of duty.
Each climber pays tribute to a firefighter by climbing 2200 steps, the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of a firefighter, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that all firefighters are honored.
The funds I'm raising will help the FDNY Counseling Services Unit and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor America's fallen heroes and assist the surviving families and co-workers in rebuilding their lives after losing their loved one.
