Lisa's fundraising page
As many of you may know, this is my 4th year participating in the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation Stairclimb to honor the brave firefighters who have died in the line of duty. What is so important about this year is that I am climbing in honor of FDNY’s 17 year veteran and United States Marine SSGT Christopher Slutman of FDNY Engine 46 Ladder 27 “Cross Bronx Expressway”.
SSGT/FF Slutman was killed while conducting combat operations near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan on 08APR2019. Slutman leaves behind his wife and 3 daughters ages 10, 8 and 4. He was less than a month away from returning home when he was killed.
A friend of mine is an FDNY FF who worked with C. Slutman at Engine 46 Ladder 27. The day of the first climb I participated in 4 years ago, I visited the house after and had a delicious lunch with the guys.
Each climber pays tribute to a firefighter by climbing 2200 steps, the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of a firefighter, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that all firefighters are honored.
The funds I'm raising will help the FDNY Counseling Services Unit and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor America's fallen heroes and assist the surviving families and co-workers in rebuilding their lives after losing their loved one.
For more information, please see the website for the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation. They do so much for the families as well as the brothers and sisters who serve side by side each day risking their lives for the sake of others.
Thank you in advance!
