Barry Balliet's 2018 NY Stair Climb
This year the stars have aligned (read my travel schedule) for me to participate in the National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 at Belmont Park, NY. Although I frequently participate in many regional “ascents,” this event is without question the national epicenter of the cause.
As for the cause, the 4th Annual National Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters is not a timed race event, but a way for firefighters and the community to climb together to honor and remember all firefighters who died in the line of duty.
Each climber pays tribute to a firefighter by climbing 2200 steps, the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. An individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of a firefighter, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that all firefighters are honored.
Please support this senior citizen whose participation years may be fleeting! The funds I'm raising will help the FDNY Counseling Services Unit and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor America's fallen heroes and assist the surviving families and co-workers in rebuilding their lives after losing their loved one.
